Intracranial Hemorrhage by Labor Injury in the Newborn Infant

Abstract
1. From May 1958 to 1960, author checked on 18 cases of spontaneous premature delivery, normal delivery and abortion, i.e. 10 cases below 1000gm newborn infants without operational procedure, 8 cases above 1000gm-5 natural deliveries and 3 operational ones.
Dr. Ylppo reported to find 90% of intracranial hemorrhage among the infants below 1000gm, and the hemorrhage was decreased as the months increased.
On the contrary, author found the more hemorrhage among the infants above the 1000 gm. In the three cases of the intracranial hemorrhage among the infants above 1000gm, one was foot, rotation by placenta previae, one was a slight higher position forceps delivery, and another one was caput succedaneum which was the most important case.
According to the above fact, author presume there is. an important relation between suffocation
caused by delay of the seco0nd stage, of delivery and the operational procedure:
2. In checking intracranial hemorrhage of the newborn, however, it was hardly possible) to find out the coagulated blood which was a criterion of the intracranial hemorrhage in many- times by autopsy.
